چکیده

An immuoelectrophoretogram of catalase in peripheral blood leukocytes showed a distinctive pattern in patients with inflammatory leukocytosis in contrast to that in patients with myelogenous leukemia. An abnormal catalase-related antigen, a, with anodic migration, coexisted with a normal cathodic or ßantigen in the peripheral blood leukocytes of patients with inflammatory diseases. Leukocytes of leukemic individuals, however, showed only the abnormal anodic antigen of catalase. This antigen underwent reversion to normal ßpattern during clinical remission. These and other observations suggest that transient configurational changes of leukocytic catalase molecules may occur under certain pathological states.

Function of Neutrophils in Different Phases of Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia

In chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), the mature granulocytes originate from a stem cell line harboring an abnormal chromosome, therefore it is possible that metabolic-functional abnormalities occur in the morphologically mature cells. In the present study, the phagocytic activity including intracellular killing, nitro blue tetrazolium (NBT) reduction, and phagocytosis were studied in 37 CML p...

A Case of Hairy Cell Leukemia Associated with Hepatitis B Surface (HBs) Antigenemia and Concurrent Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) Seropositivity

Literature review shows that hepatitis C infection may increase the risk of non-hodgkin lymphoma. Reactivation of hepatitis B infection has been reported in patients with hairy cell leukemia after chemotherapy and/or splenectomy. We present hepatitis B surface (HBs) antigenemia and concurrent hepatitis C virus (HCV) seropositivity in a case of hairy cell leukemia. Key Words: Hairy cell leukemi...

Significance of Cross Lineage Antigen Expression in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Background: Aberrant expression of cross-lineage antigens gives valuable insight into the diagnosis and prognosis of acute leukemia. In countries like India, cytogenetic tests are widely accessible. Exploring the prognostic value of an accessible test is of great importance. Therefore, establishing a population-specific immunophenotype database will enable to design an antibody panel equipped t...
